In writing and recording my most recent single, 'guilty conscience', I found myself turning to many other established female singers, such as Nessa Barrett, Jessie Jo Stark and Olivia Rodrigo, to name a few. In doing so, I found that we all had one thing in common: being misunderstood.
Okay, it sounds so cliché but truly, going through that experience is tough shit. That's what 'guilty conscience' is about for me. It's about feeling like you don't belong and like everyone's out to get you, so all you want to do is escape.
Movies inspire me too. I'm not sure I can pinpoint a specific one for 'guilty conscience', but I have other songs that are definitely inspired by movies. Hopefully someday you'll get to hear those ones, too.
